Axe Woves became the leader of the Nite Owl Mandalorians after the forced exile of Bo-Katan Kryze when she failed to secure the darksaber. After losing to Bo-Katan in single combat, Axe and the Nite Owls rejoin Bo to retake their home planet of Mandalore. Axe was instrumental in turning the tide of the final battle with Moff Gideon and his forces by piloting a captured Imperial cruiser into the secret Imperial base, decimating the base, and seemingly destroying Moff Gideon in the process.
This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.
This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.
Required Costume Components
The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met. This Detachment defines additional, optional costuming details listed in blue and red. Please visit the Detachment website for more details on these options.
General Construction Notes
All components should closely match Axe Woves? The Mandalorian Season 3 Color Palette.
Color palette is intended for reference in building, and will only be used in exacting measurement by Detachment for Infamous Level approval. A Basic level approval is only required to be similar, not exact.
All Armor is constructed from a durable material such as Metal, Fiberglass, Resin, Sintra, HIPS, PVC, PLA, Vac-formed ABS, or similar. EVA foam and similar materials are not appropriate.
Armor is scaled proportionally to the wearer.
3D printed components have no visible print lines and are smooth for a realistic appearance.
All costume elements are painted and weathered to match the specific visual references from Season 3 of The Mandalorian series

- Unmodified BLACK SERIES HELMET IS NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Helmet is a Mandalorian helmet, with two smaller horizontal triangles ("turn signals") on the forehead that are situated closer together than on OT-style Boba Fett helmet.
- Helmet has a dark tinted visor that obscures the wearer's face.
- Helmet, ear caps, lower cheeks, back panels, and rangefinder are a medium blue, similar to PMS 7461, with the following exceptions:
- Mandibles, head band, rear vent with keyhole slots, and the bottom piece of the rangefinder topper are dark gray.
- Upper cheeks are black.
- There is a medium purple line between the upper and lower cheeks.
- A light gray "Halo", similar to PMS 428c, runs horizontally around the helmet on the forehead area.
- Rangefinder assembly on the right side features a gray or silver stalk.
- Rangefinder body is medium blue with a black rectangle painted on the top and a black framed window -(viewfinder) on the bottom.
- There are two red colored lenses at the top of the rangefinder assembly.
- A small cylindrical "Diagnostic port" with three holes (one larger hole and two identical smaller holes below) is located on the wearer's lower right cheek.
- Diagnostic Port is similar to, but not identical to a 3-hole Borden connector.
- Back of the helmet has six keyhole slots, painted dark gray.
- There are prominent areas of damage throughout the helmet.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Book of Boba Fett style Mandalorian helmet shape that is narrower from left to right and has taller cheeks when compared to an OT style helmet.
- Rangefinder stalk is made out of metal.
- Ears are made out of metal.
- The 3-hole Borden connector is made out of metal.

- The armor is dark gray, similar to PMS 446c.
- Chest armor resembles Boba Fett style plates from Season 3 of The Mandalorian series.
- Chest plates are void of any horizontal slots commonly seen on OT style chest armor.
- Chest Armor plates are a dark gray with silver scratches, consisting of:
- Left and right chest plates.
- Center diamond.
- Abdominal plate.
- There are three small, closely spaced, recessed holes on the lower right side of the ab plate (facing).
- The center diamond between chest plates has a small silver recessed rectangular middle section.
- Armor plates possess a sharp return edge, approximately .25" (6mm) in thickness.
- Armor attaches securely to the Flak Vest with no visible means of attachment.

- Color of the armor is dark gray similar to PMS 446c.
- Armor fits the curvature of the wearer & extends from the upper shoulder blades to the bottom edge of the Flak Vest.
- At the top, there are curved extensions directed toward the shoulder plates.
- At the bottom, there are flared sections that extend around the sides.
- Top of the back plate is attached to the shoulder plates via leather or leather-like straps.
- Bottom of the back plate has slots to accept leather or leather-like straps, extending backward from the Flak Vest.
- Jetpack attaches securely to the back plate with no visible means of attachment.

- Plates are dark gray with silver scratches similar to PMS 446c.
- The fronts of the plates are angled at approximately 45degrees inward and are worn as mirrors of each other.
- Position of the shoulder plate:
- The plates curve over the shoulder and downward to match the yoke of the Flak Vest
- The front edge of the shoulder plate is approximately 1"-1.5" (30mm-40mm) from the top edge of the chest plate and runs parallel to the top edge of the chest plate.
- Plates have a raised edge and a thin outer border.
- The back section of the shoulder plate has a slot measuring approximately 2" (50mm), into which a leather, or leather-like strap loops between the shoulder plate and the back armor.
- Straps extend from the shoulder plate to the back armor, giving the appearance they are holding the back armor onto the wearer.
- Plates are sized so they do not cover the shoulder straps of the vest completely and are mounted without visible attachments.

- Shoulder bells are dark gray with silver scratches, similar to PMS 446c.
- Shoulder bells almost cover the entire length of the short sleeve of the flight suit. It can either end at the bottom of the short sleeve or the bottom trim on short sleeves can extend out past the bottom of the shoulder armor.
- Armor is symmetrical with a raised edge around its perimeter.
- Shoulder bells have no visible methods of attachment.

- Gauntlet is medium blue with silver scratches, similar to PMS 7461c.
- Gauntlet is a clamshell-style without any visible closure methods.
- The top of the gauntlet features three steps with the tallest at the beginning near the wearer's elbow.
- The top greeblie is trapezoidal and extending from its front end is a raised thin square shaped rod.
- Four trapezoidal shapes are on the side of the steps, two on each side.
- On the inner side, the trapezoid closest to the elbow has two horizontal slots.
- On the outer side, the trapezoid furthest from the elbow has three horizontal slots.
- A tapered, dark gray trapezoidal greeblie with vertical slots is on the second step.
- At the part closest to the wrist on the third step is a dark gray recessed rectangular piece that houses a metallic silver greeblie similar to a Glenross dental expander.
- Wrist end features a dark gray recessed keypad with four rows of six rectangular buttons.
- The back counterpart portion of the left gauntlet has a recessed border.
- Along the inner surface are four recessed rectangular pattern details.

- Gauntlet is medium blue, similar to PMS 7461c, with silver scratches.
- Gauntlet is clamshell-style without any visible closure methods.
- The top of the gauntlet features two steps with the tallest at the beginning of the wearer's elbow.
- Two trapezoidal shapes are featured on the inner side of the step housing next to the darts section.
- Two rectangular details are located on the outer surface of the gauntlet.
- Closer to the wrist is a smaller faceted rectangular piece.
- Lying further laterally on the outer aspect of the gauntlet is a raised rectangular detail.
- There are two recessed areas of the middle step; the first just in front of the darts and the second just before the second step.
- First recessed area is dark gray.
- Second recessed area has three thin horizontal stripes with obvious weathering outlining the area in a dark color.
- Dart housing has tapered edges with four silver darts in the center.
- The darts extend slightly from a recessed section at the front edge of the tallest step.
- A recessed dark gray display panel consisting of horizontal alternating raised and dipped rows is featured on the front edge near the wearer's wrist.
- The back counterpart portion of the right gauntlet has a recessed border.
- Along the inner surface are four recessed rectangular pattern details.

- Hand plates are dark gray, similar to PMS 446c, with silver scratches and black wash/misting as seen in visual references.
- Hand plates are asymmetrical with six sides, angled corners, and two bent faces with the larger face aligning with the thumb.
- There are three discernible sections with well defined ridges separating them, consisting of a central section and two trapezoidal sections on each side.
- The central section consists of:
- Raised triangle located centrally in the section.
- Raised trapezoidal section at the side closest to the wrist, central to this raised section is a recessed slot.
- Plates secure to the gloves without any visible means of attachment.

- There are specific pieces for the right and left thighs with the right being larger than the left.
- Thigh armor is dark gray, similar to PMS 446c, with silver scratches and black wash/misting.
- Right thigh features:
- Raised rectangular ridge in the center that merges into the top and bottom raised edge.
- Faceted piece with three distinct faces.
- Left thigh features:
- Raised rounded edge.
- Faceted piece with three distinct faces.
- Both are worn with no visible means of attachment to flightsuit.

- Knee armor is medium blue, similar to PMS 7461c, with silver scratches and black wash/misting.
- Armor are mirror reflections specific to the right and left knee with the dart launchers worn on the outer side of the knee.
- Knee armor is mounted on gray cotton/cotton blend fabric similar to cotton twill material which matches the flight suit material.
- 1"-1.5" (25mm-38mm) wide black elastic strap extends from the backing cloth mount to wrap around the back of the wearer's knee through the fabric tunnel of the flight suit bottoms.
- On the outer side of each knee is a dart launcher area.
- Right knee is void of any actual dart launchers and the recessed area of the launcher and a rectangular section just in front of it are matte black.
- Left knee has two metallic silver dart launchers that are identical to each other.

- Worn only on the right shin overtop the gaiter.
- Shin armor is medium blue, similar to PMS 7461c, with silver scratches and black wash/misting.
- Armor is an elongated trapezoidal shape; wide at the top and tapers towards the ankle.
- Sinn features three distinct facets and raised outer edges.
- On the front facing section, close to the knee, there are three vertical pill shaped recesses off-center to the right.
- Shin is worn with no visible means of attachment to the gaiter.

- Flight suit top is made of cotton/cotton blend fabric similar to cotton twill.
- Color is medium gray, similar to PMS 423c.
- Topstitching is light gray.
- Can be either one or two pieces in construction. If the flight suit is one-piece, then there is a waistband between the top and bottom sections to create the appearance of a two-piece flight suit.
- Flight suit top zips up in the back, with a cover panel.
- Collar:
- Mandarin style approximately 2" (50mm) tall.
- No visible seam or closure at the front.
- Back closure in line with the whole top.
- A reinforced patch of gray stretch fabric is present in the underarm area.
- Flight suit top has a double sleeve construction; long sleeves with short sleeves layered on top.
- Short sleeves have an extra strip of fabric added at the bottom, as well as vertical trim along the front and back, approximately .4" (10 mm) wide.
- The bottom edge has three seams, approximately .4" (10mm) apart.
- Long sleeves have five horizontal quilted ribs visible between the short sleeves and the gauntlets.
- There are triangle designs sewn on the front of both long sleeves and aligned with the horizontal rows.
- Tapered stretch sections are present at the end of the arms.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Rectangular panel of black stretch fabric located on the back of the flight suit top.
- Two vertical seams on the back of the flight suit top.

- Flight suit bottom is made of cotton/cotton blend fabric similar to cotton twill.
- Color is medium gray, similar to PMS 423c.
- Topstitching is light gray.
- Can be either one or two pieces in construction. If the flight suit is one-piece, then there is a waistband between the top and bottom sections to create the appearance of a two-piece flight suit.
- Flight suit bottom has a hidden zippered closure in the front with the open edge on the right, starting at an angle mid-crotch, and ending under the wearer's belt.
- A double topstitch detail runs on the front and back of the leg centrally.
- A double topstitched side seam runs on the outer aspect from the waist to the bottom cuff.
- A reinforced hexagonal patch of gray stretch fabric, with double top stitching along its edges is present in the groin area that extends down to the middle inner thigh and stops halfway to the front of the thigh.
- Between the upper and lower knee seams is a fabric tunnel, made from the same material as the suit that the elastic runs through to secure the knee armor.
- Tapered stretch sections are present at the end of each trouser leg.

- Neck seal is made of a stretch ribbed jersey fabric and is darker gray than the flight suit color.
- Ribbing runs vertically.

- Flak Vest main body is made of leather or a leather-like material.
- Vest body is a darker gray color than the flight suit, similar to PMS 424c.
- Sized to closely match the height of the Chest and Ab Plates, but short enough to stop before reaching the belt.
- Features vertical ribbing on the sides under the arm holes.
- An approximate 2" (50mm) section measured from the lower edge of the body of the Flak Vest.
- A 2" (50mm) strap (made of the same material as the body of the vest) arises from the sides of the vest, and is approximately 1" (25mm) from the bottom edge of the vest used for attaching to the bottom of the back armor.
- Closure is located in the middle of the back.
- Leather closure strip between the top edge of the back of the vest lies between the shoulder straps:
- Made of the same leather or leather-like material as the body of the vest.
- Color matches the Flak Vest body.
- At least three rows approximately 1" (25mm) apart.
- Flak Vest features shoulder straps made of canvas or linen.
- Shoulder straps are pale gray, similar to PMS 441c with ribbing along the length from front to back.
- Straps meet in the front and have a visible distance between them in the back.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Ribbing on the shoulder straps and sides of the body are quilted.
- Flak Vest is sized so it leaves a large gap between the bottom of the vest and the belt.
- Flak Vest is sized so it extends out past the sides of the chest plate.

- Tasset is a darker gray color than the flight suit, and a similar shade to the Flak Vest body.
- Made of leather or leather-like material.
- Sides taper inward toward the belt with rounded bottom corners.
- Stitching is white or off-white and separates the pattern into thirteen sections.
- Tasset is worn underneath the Flak Vest and extends downwards under the belt with no visible means of attachment.
- Bottom of the tasset also extends past the belt and ammo pouches approximately 2"-3" (50mm-75mm).

- Gloves are made of plain soft black leather, or leather-like material and worn tucked into the gauntlets.
- Logos, designs, or any other non-canon details are not visible when worn.

- All Belts, Holsters, and Ammo Pouches are made of leather or leather-like material.
- Dark brown color, similar to PMS 732c, is consistent on all parts.
- All sizes are approximate and should be scaled to the wearer.
- The following components comprise this section and will be broken down individually: Girth Belt (two layers), Buckle, Ammo Belt, Ammo Pouches, and Holster. See Axe S3 Belt Components.
- Girth Belt
- Girth Belt consists of two main sections, front and back.
- Each section is of similar construction, consisting of an inner base layer and an outer layer.
- Both sections have angled corners.
- Inner base layer is approximately 3.5" (90mm) wide.
- The outer layer is narrower than the inner base layer approximately 3" (80mm) wide.
- On the upper edge of the outer layer there are two ribs approximately 1/8" (3mm) wide.
- On the bottom edge of the outer layer there are three ribs approximately 1/8" (3mm) wide.
- Ribs mirror angled corners of the inner layer, but stop short of the inner layer edge and end by approximately 1"(25mm) on all sections.
- The front section overlaps the back section with tabs made of the same material, and are the same width as the outer layer of the Girth Belt which allows for size adjustment.
- The Girth Belt is covered on top by the ammo belt, which connects the front and back sections of the Girth Belt via hip buckles.
- Hip buckles are located on the Ammo Belt.
- Holster hardware is attached to the back of the belt and is not visible from the front when wearing the belt.
- Buckle
- Axe specific buckle matching visual references with an elongated hexagon shape.
- Angled instep on the left which may or may not be present.
- Two obvious screw holes are located centrally at the top and bottom.
- Horizontal pill shaped recesses are on the top right.
- Features grooved detailing matching visual references.
- Ammo Belt
- Belt is approximately 1.5" (38mm) wide with lighter single stitched edges.
- Axe specific buckle is located centrally, with secure studs on the right.
- On each side are hip cinch buckles with rectangular belt loops, approximately 1" (25mm) wide, with rounded corners that allow for adjustment.
- Ammo belt is stitched to Girth Belt in the front with one loop of matching cording lying between the front pouches located on each side.
- Ammo belt is stitched to Girth Belt in the back with loops of matching cording.
- One is located centrally in the back.
- One in between each pair of back pouches on each side.
- Eight total Ammo Pouches are worn on the Ammo Belt.
- Ammo Pouches
- There are three sets of pouches.
- Smallest (2) lies on each side of the buckle.
- Medium (2) lies lateral to the small buckle adjacent the front pouches.
- Largest (4) on the back section of the girth belt.
- All pouches are approximately the same height or slightly taller than the Girth Belt itself, at approximately 3"-3.75" (90mm-99mm) in height.
- The smallest pouches are approximately 2" (55mm) wide.
- Medium pouches are approximately 2.5" (65mm) wide.
- Largest pouches are approximately 3" (85mm) wide.
- Pouches have an angled top, and the flap tapers slightly inward on the side of the pouch to rounded corners.
- Flaps have lighter visible edge straight stitching.
- Chamfered metal buttons are on the flaps.
- All pouch flaps have an embossed edge.
- Holster
- The holster is made from the same dark brown leather, or leather-like, material as the main belt.
- Holster is worn on the right, consisting of a leather wrapped holster and two leather straps.
- Straps are looped through triangular-shaped brackets at the Girth Belt and then stitched back onto themselves.
- Brackets are painted metallic silver and attach to the Girth Belt but are just visible when wearing the belt.
- Holster and strap edges have visible single stitches on the edges.
- Holster sits relatively high on the thigh.
- The front strap should overlap the upper outer corner of the right thigh armor.
- The bottom of the holster should not be longer than the bottom edge of the right thigh armor.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- All belts are made of leather.
- Holster brackets are metal or metal-like.
- All items will be properly scaled to the wearer and correct screen-accurate colors.

- Gaiter components are made of leather or leather-like material with some grain visible.
- The main sections are a slightly darker brown than the belt and are comprised of four sections indicated by the seams on the front, back, and each side.
- Seams are made of light single stitching.
- Zipper closure is on the inner side of the gaiters.
- At the bottom edge on each side, there are indents:
- Outer face small rectangular shape approximately .75" x .5" (20mm x 10mm)
- Inner face right angled trapezoid approximately 1.5" x .75" (35mm x 20mm)
- Rectangular closure straps bridge the zipper on the inner aspect of the gaiter.
- Straps have rounded corners and stitch lines.
- They are approximately 1 1/8" (30mm) wide.
- Two per gaiter; one located at the ankle and one on the upper calf underneath the fold down.
- Fold down edge from the top of the gaiter is approximately 3" (80mm) wide.
- Approximately .5" (15mm) elastic stirrup strap runs under the sole of each boot at the arch, securing the gaiter to the boot.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Gaiters are made of leather.

- Brown leather, or leather-like, ankle-height Chelsea style boot.
- Sole is solid black.
- Elastic "U" shaped side panels that span from the sole up to the top of the boot are present on both sides.
- Boots have no zippers, laces, or other embellishment.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
Boots are Blundstone 500 series in Saddle Brown or Rustic Brown.

- Jetpack is mainly a medium blue color with silver, dark gray, and pale yellow accents. See the Axes Woves: The Mandalorian Season 3 Color Palette.
- Jetpack consists of a main body with raised areas, grooves, three rockets, and "Piano Keys" between the left, center, and right rockets as seen in visual references.
- "Piano Keys" greeblies and raised center strip are a silver/metallic color.
- On the Jetpack body are a center tank and two side fuel tanks.
- The center tank is topped with a large cone shaped rocket with a silver/metallic connecting ring that is unique to Axe at the base.
- The two side tanks are capped with cone shaped rockets, smaller in scale than the center rocket, with a silver/metallic connecting ring at each base.
- Side tanks feature a downward pointing yellow triangle at the bottom of each tank.
- Directional thrusters are recessed into the bottom of the side tanks. Cone of thrusters feature inside and outside grooves near the bottoms and a yellow rim along the bottom edge.
- Jetpack attaches securely to back armor with no visible means of attachment.
Optional Accessories
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

- PLEASE NOTE: Blaster is to represent a live action version of the Westar-35.
- Blaster is gunmetal, silver, light brown, and black.
- Blaster pistol is based on the Infinity Firearms pistol (2011 frame) with Infinity Skater Terrain Grips and Billet Grip XL Magwell (unrecessed).
- Blaster pistol grip and Magwell do not have any logos or writing.
- Blaster pistol slide has angled top corners and the slide extends rearward to meet the end of the grip safety.
- Located at the back of the blaster slide is a raised greeblie with five horizontal rows on the end.
- Blaster has an extended slide safety on the right side, immediately below the slide and behind the grip.
