A skilled and deadly Mandalorian warrior, Bo-Katan serves as a Lieutenant in the radical Mandalorian splinter group known as the Death Watch, and as the leader of the elite Night Owls. Although a confident enforcer, showing no remorse or guilt, Bo-Katan also possess a flirtatious tease. Believing the savage raider lifestyle is the true path for the Mandalorians, Bo is committed to restoring the glory of Mandalore's past.
This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.
This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.
Required Costume Components
The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met. This Detachment defines additional, optional costuming details listed in blue and red. Please visit the Detachment website for more details on these options.
General Construction Notes
All Armor is constructed from a durable material such as Metal, Fiberglass, Resin, Sintra, HIPS, PVC, PLA, Vac-formed ABS, or similar. EVA foam and similar materials are not appropriate.
Armor is scaled proportionally to the wearer.
3D printed components have no visible print lines and are smooth for a realistic appearance.

- Helmet must be the "Nite Owl" version of the Mandalorian helmet.
- The top and rear of the dome is painted blue.
- The forehead and front mandibles are painted white.
- A black "V" logo is located at the center of the forehead.
- A dark colored, full one piece "T" shaped eye lens extends to the lower edge of the helmet.
- The upper cheeks are painted a slightly darker blue.
- The lower cheeks are painted with the same blue color as the dome.
- The cheek areas are rounded at the top, unlike the more tapered cheeks of Boba Fett.
- A medium-dark gray rangefinder with ear-cap and stalk is located on the right side of the helmet.
- "Ear-cap" portion is attached flush at the top of the right helmet ear-cap.
- The rear helmet band is colored with the same dark blue as the upper cheeks.
- Back of the helmet is the same blue color as the dome.
- Both shades of blue match the visual references as closely as possible in similar lighting.
- The rear center key slot area is the same medium-dark gray as the rangefinder.
- The helmet is weathered matching the visual references as closely as possible. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- A servo motor attached to the inside of the helmet motorizes the rangefinder to arc 90 degrees forward.

- Flightsuit is dark charcoal gray (almost black) in color.
- Single sleeved with long sleeves extending under the forearm gauntlets.
- Flightsuit should be made of a cotton or cotton/spandex/lycra material.
- No visible zippers or openings.
- Flightsuit allows for the attachment of codpiece and holster armor.
- Pants fight tightly with a seam extending from the hips to the ankle.
- Knee and lower leg armor attach to the legs.
- Hook and loop fastener or snaps are recommended.

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Armor is painted blue to match helmet dome.
- Armor has four points and curves around the upper arm.
- Armor attaches securely to shoulders of the Flak Vest, approximately �-1� above the colored band, with no visible means of attachment.
- Both shoulders include a "Nite Owl" logo in the center of each piece.
- Weathering must match visual references as closely as possible. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Gauntlets are painted blue to match helmet dome.
- Armor opens on the inside of the forearm with an internal hinging method.
- No Hinges or Rivets are seen on the outside of the arm.
- Right gauntlet contains the following components:
- Five rectangular buttons on the top.
- Three of which are red and in a row, the last being perpendicular and behind the first row on the outside.
- A white button is next to the perpendicular button and in the same plane as the first row.
- Two forward facing grey or silver blasters, in front of middle section.
- Two vertical slights on the outside of the blasters for exploding disc to be expelled.
- A slit for blade disc to be expelled (over wrist opening).
- Red colored, trapezoid-shaped range finder target.
- Left gauntlet contains the following components:
- Four forward facing darts in front of middle section.
- Seven rectangular buttons on the top.
- Three of which are red and in a row, the other four (1 red, 1 white and 2 grey) are behind the first row with the outside button being red.
- A grey or silver electrical grappling hook in the middle.
- A slot for the hidden knife to extend or retract (over wrist opening).
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Right gauntlet contains the following components:
- Five illuminated buttons on the top.
- Three of which are red and in a row, the last being perpendicular and behind the first row on the outside.
- A white button is next to the perpendicular button and in the same plane as the first row.
- Red colored, illuminated, trapezoid-shaped range finder target.
- Left gauntlet contains the following components:
- Five illuminated buttons on the top.
- Three of which are red and in a row, the other two (1 red and 1 white) are behind the first row with the outside button being red.
- Illuminating blue LED duel blaster on the right gauntlet.
- Retractable knife on the left gauntlet. If present, knife will not be spring-loaded, but manually operated.

- Gloves are dark-charcoal grey (almost black) and made of a thin, soft material.
- May be same or similar to the material used for the flight suit and flak vest.
- Gloves are worn tucked underneath the gauntlets.

- Flak Vest is dark-charcoal gray (almost black) in color.
- Vest is made from the same, or similar material as the flight suit.
- Vest is as seamless as possible.
- Neck area is surrounded by a turtleneck or tight neck seal that extends to the base of the wearers skull and chin.
- Shoulders do not flare outward like wings, but are short sleeves that extend approximately 1/3 down the wearer's bicep.
- There is a light bluish-grey trim around the bottom of the short sleeve, which is approximately �-1� wide.
- The length of the vest is long enough to be worn under the girth belt.
- Flak Vest allows for the attachment of chest, back, belly, shoulder and collar armor, with no visible means of attachment.

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Includes collar armor, left and right breast plates, a center diamond and an abdominal plate.
- Armor is painted light-medium grey.
- Center diamond plate, between the breast plates, has a raised vertical rectangle.
- Armor attaches securely to the front of the vest, with no visible means of attachment.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Armor is painted light-medium grey.
- Armor may attach securely to the back of the vest, or to the jetpack so that it is secure when worn together.
- Jetpack should properly sit against the curvature of the wearers back and have proper placement on the shoulders.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style jetpack.
- May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- The colors for the jetpack are: blue (same as helmet dome), light gray, medium gray, dark gray, and tan.
- Jetpack has the following main components:
- One center tank and two side fuel tanks.
- Two side mounted thrusters and three cone shaped missiles.
- A 1� tan band is located on the center tank and the two side, cone shaped missile bases.
- Two tan horizontal stripes are located on either side of the center tank.
- A vertical blue stripe extends along the center of the main tank.
- Slightly elevated, light grey pin-striping detail is found on either side of the main tank and surrounding the tan horizontal stripes.
- Jetpack attaches snugly against the back armor in the proper centered position.
- Colors and weathering should match visual references as closely as possible. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Belt is made of leather or similar sturdy material, and is dark brown in color.
- Belt may be no less than 2� wide and no more than 2.5� wide. Size is dependent upon size of the wearer.
- The end of the belt overlaps the other end and is secured in rear with hook and loop (or similar) attachment.
- Attached to the belt are eight (8) equally sized Ammo Boxes.
- Ammo boxes are also dependent upon the wearer and should be no less than 2.25� wide x 3.0� tall x 1.25� deep, and no more than 2.5� wide x 4.5� tall x 1.5� deep.
- Ammo Boxes will be worn with three off each hip, and two in the back center to cover the rear overlapping belt seam.
- Bottom of Ammo Boxes will slightly overlap the Girth Belt when worn.

- Belt is made of leather or similar materials and is dark brown in color.
- Belt may be no less than 2� wide and no more than 2.5� wide. Size is dependent upon size of the wearer.
- Depending on the width of the belt, four or five horizontal lines are present, approximately � inch apart.
- Note: four lines are appropriate on a 2� wide belt, and five lines on a 2.5� wide belt.
- Belt attaches in rear.
- Heavy duty hook and loop fastener is recommended for durability.
- Ammo Boxes cover the rear overlapping belt seam.

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Cod armor is made of three separate pieces.
- Armor is painted light-medium grey.
- Codpiece is worn below all of the belts, and should be sized to the wearer.
- Armor attaches securely to the front of the flight suit, with no visible means of attachment.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).
- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Armor is painted light-medium grey.
- Armor is curved to fit snugly over side of thighs and are attached securely to the legs of the flight suit with no visible means of attachment.
- Weapon holsters are located on the lateral center of each armor piece.
- A light-medium gray �� strap is located at the mid-upper portion of the armor that securely fastens around the upper thigh.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Armor is painted blue to match helmet dome.
- Knees attach securely to the front of the flight suit with no visible means of attachment.
- Armor should not slouch into the wearer's leg, but sit perpendicular to the ground as much as possible.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Armor is painted light-medium gray, with a blue (same as helmet dome) stripe down the middle.
- Armor has distinct flat front and 45 degree angles beginning toward the back, and will wrap to match the curvature of the wearer's calf.
- Leg armor attaches securely to the front of the flight suit with no visible means of attachment.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Must be Animated Nite Owl style armor.
- Must appear to be at least 3mm thick with rounded edges in order to give the feeling of thickness and depth. May be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, resin, styrene, sintra or Vac-formed ABS.
- Ankle spat and toe cap are painted light-medium gray.
- Heel cover is painted dark gray with a rectangular horizontal light-medium gray section in the middle of the rear.
- Ankle spat is attached securely on top of boot and covers any laces.
- Toe cap and heal cover are attached securely to front and back of boot with no visible means of attachment.
- Armor is weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage. Paint will have dull appearance (no shine).

- Black boots with a highly rugged sole pattern matching as closely as possible to the animated series.
- Most identifiable features of the sole include a high arch pattern on the inside of the foot and deep tread.
- Boots allow for secure attachment of boot armor.
Optional Accessories
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.
- Based on a scratch-built or a modified commercial toy Westar 35 pistol.
- Blasters are painted light and medium gray with a dark gray finish on the handles and slide.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Blasters have blue LED lights.
- Must be Animated Deathwatch style carbine (long version of the pistol).
- Must be painted light/medium gray with a dark gray finish on the handles and slide, properly weathered to match visual references.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Carbine must have blue LED lights.
- Head band is light-medium gray in color with dark/medium gray or black details around the top and sides to match visual references.
- Band is fitted to the wearer and extends from temple to temple; it is worn between the forehead and hair line.
- Band has four yellow illuminating lights; two on each temple.
- Red-orange in color.
- Hair is formed in a "Bob" cut that is angled shorter in the back than the front.
- Wig parts down the middle of the scalp.
- Green contact lenses.
- This style of contact lens may be worn, if desired.
- While encouraged to complete the look of this character, the contact lens requirement will be waived for 501st acceptance, if the applicant cannot wear contact lenses for health related reasons.
- All persons utilizing contact lenses are encouraged to first see their optometrist for a fitting.
