This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met. This Detachment defines additional, optional costuming details listed in blue and red. Please visit the Detachment website for more details on these options.

• Special designed mando helmet. the T visor has pointed ends at eye-height.
• On the sides of the helmet there are 2 rotating discs with attached cannons
• Right side has 2 cannons. a Front cannon painted matte black and a back cannon (higher than the fron one) painted in silver/ gray. The front cannon has a ridged detail near the attachment point to the side disc. The back cannon has a ridged detail near the top
• Left side has only 1 cannon, a front cannon. It is painted in matte black and has a ridged detail at the top of it
• Side discs are painted in silver with dark gray weathering
• Helmet has matte black dome with yellow-ish clan vizsla logo on the front, dark green cheeks with silver/dark gray protruding details
• The area around the visor is silver/dark gray and that area goes around the helmet
• The vent area in the back of the helmet is silver/dark gray while the area surrounding it is dark green

• Olive Green Flighsuit
• Has traditional Mandalorian style double sleeves.
• Neck seal should be build into the suit.
• No pockets should be visible.
• Can be weathered

• Mandalorian Flak vest �Jango Fett Style�
• Color should be Olive Green/blue
• Shoulders should flare outward like wings

• Consists of collar armor, left and right breast plates, a center diamond and an abdominal plate.
• Must be made of a solid material such as fiberglass, styrene or sintra.
• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• The plates are painted in Silver/ Dark Gray and they have a chest logo painted in different layers of color. First layer should be light yellow and covered in light blue.
• Left breast plate must have two indented horizontal bars each colored dark gray with pruple-ish shades
• Center diamond plate between breast plates must have a raised vertical rectangle as shown in visual references.
• The diamond is the same color of the other pieces.
• The raised rectangle is dark green.
• Must attach securely to the front of the vest

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Shoulder silver/dark gray to match the collar.
• Shoulder armor should flare out off the shoulders to present a wider than normal silhouette.

• Gauntlet color is Med/dark Gray.
• Gauntlets taper toward the wrist.
• Gauntlets have a seam on the inside of the arm with indents on either side of the seam as shown.
• Gauntlets have a stepped detail on the top center as shown.
• 2 cannons painted light gray.
• Looking at it from the top, there are 4 red rectangles (They represent lights) , 1 white rectangle (It represent a light) and one red trapezoid area (targeting device).
• Below and on the sides of the cannons there are details used as Disc blades launchers.
• The Gauntlet closes in the inside of the arm.

• Gauntlet color is Med/dark Gray.
• Gauntlets taper toward the wrist.
• Gauntlets have a seam on the inside of the arm with indents on either side of the seam as shown.
• Gauntlets have a stepped detail on the top center as shown.
• 1 cannon painted light gray
• 4 small darts launcher with darts (gray) neck lasso launcher.
• The neck lasso discs are light gray/silver with a smaller red circle.
• Instead of the neck lasso discs, he has a retractable blade (Season 5 Only)
• Looking at it from the top, there are 2 rows of painted rectangles. The first row is at top layer level and it is made of 3 red rectangles representing lights. the second row is on a higher level and it is made of 3 rectangles. one gray, one white and 2 red.
• The Gauntlet closes in the inside of the arm.

• Olive Green over the wrist gloves made of leather, nylon, or other low pile fabrics.
• Gloves cover any exposed skin.
• Gloves do not show any labels or logos when the armor is worn.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Symmetrical, tombstone shaped handplates.
• Color is Med/dark Gray to match helmet and armor.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Color is dark grey to match gauntlets.
• Collar and backplate do not overlap.

• Green-ish leather or leather like material, Fabric as well.
• 6-8" tall depending on the height of the wearer.

• Segmented belt worn outside of the girth belt.
• Plate size/positioning must match visual reference.
• Color is Med/dark Gray to match helmet and armor.
• It has Goldish-yellow squares on left and right side
• The center detail is painted with a lighter gray tone
• Belt has 2 boxes painted in med/dark gray with light gray button. (Season 4 Only)
• Boxes can be made openable.
• The belt goes all around the waist and it is usually closed on the back.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Triangular cod piece with rounded bottom edge.
• Color is Med/dark Gray to match helmet and armor.
• It is usually tucked beneath the girth belt that covers its upper end.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Wraps around outer thigh.
• Holsters are integrated with the armor.
• Must have no visible straps / attachment.
• Color is Med/dark Gray.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Main color is Silver/ Dark Gray to match helmet and armor.
• Must attach securely to the front of the knees over the flightsuit with no straps or visible means of attachment.
• The 3D model of Vizsla Knee Plates have an Arch Indented Front. (Season 5 Only)
• Totally flat Knee Plates should be acceptable as well due to lot of pictures showing flat knee plates.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Color is Silver/ Dark Gray to match helmet and armor.
• Mando Style shinguards from ankle to mid leg.
• Only for season 5, there are Shin darts attachments. 3 launchers on top of the shin and 2 launchers on the bottom of the shin (Shin Darts - Season 5 only)

• Black with Silver and Beige Soles and Toe Caps.
• Boots have armor plates protecting the toes, the heel and the instep.

• Must have dimension and give the feeling of thickness and depth.
• Color is Silver/ Dark Gray to match the armor
• Boot armor covers the top of the foot, hiding laces if present.
• Boot armor must connect with no visible means of attachment.

• TV series paint scheme jetpack is required for approval.
• Animated style sculpt required
• Paint scheme as shown.
• Custom style jetpack
• It is made in 5 main pieces.
• 1) Main Body 2) Left Tank 3) Right Tank 4) Rocket 5) Connection Tube with raised details

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

• Animated style pistols (Westar W-35) fit into thigh holsters

• A hilt only may be carried on the back, in between the back plate and jetpack.
• If a blade is present it should be black smoked acrylic with white details.
