The Coruscant Guard is a military police division within the Grand Army of the Republic. They serve to protect the Republic’s capital of Coruscant and are distinguished by their armor’s red markings. Their duties also include patrolling the capital and escorting diplomats and other dignitaries, such as the Supreme Chancellor. The specialist class was notorious for their use of long range weapons for engagements.

This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met. This Detachment defines additional, optional costuming details listed in blue and red. Please visit the Detachment website for more details on these options.

• Phase II helmet.
• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Red painted mohawk on top of dome.
• There are 12, evenly spaced, vertical red stripes on the front forehead section of the dome.
• Black eye lens.
• The charcoal grey frown has 6 removed teeth spaces.
• Black colored wire or black plastic mesh is utilized inside the helmet to cover the open pieces of the frown.
• The top of the chin area is painted red.
• The front section of the aerator tubes have 6, evenly spaced, horizontal red stripes.
• The indented cheek areas are painted red.
• The side vent tubes have 9 evenly spaced dark blue vertical stripes.
• Ear caps are painted a dark grey or black.
• There is an indented helmet band around the back of the helmet painted grey.
• The vent on the rear of the helmet is painted black.
• The indented sections above and below the rear helmet vent are painted red.
• There are a pair of macrobinoculars mounted on the helmet. Visor can be raised or lowered, but preferred to stay in the lowered position following references.
• Binocs are painted white, with black gusset detail near eye cavity.
• Binocs feature thin black lens.
• Bincocs have a vertical red line, along with a red square on the left side following references.
• The red areas are weathered with scuffs and chips.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Battlefront II Neck Seal.
• Neck seal is black in color with horizontal ribbing similar to a stormtrooper.
• No logos or labels are visible.
• If the seal is not incorporated as part of the undersuit, a balaclava or other similar covering is acceptable.

• Black non-textured material, either one-piece or two-piece construction with no visible zippers or logos.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Shoulders are tear drop in shape with all rounded edges.
• Shoulder armor is not symmetrical.
• The shoulders slightly curve back at the bottom.
• The red areas are weathered with various chips and scuff marks.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Two approximately ½ inch red stripes, spaced approximately ½ inch apart, encircle the lower part of the upper arm.
• A dimple on the lower area of the back of the arm.
• The outside of the bicep has a hard line edge at the front that turns in.
• The inside of the upper arm is rounded.
• Armor is seamless.
• No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.
• The red areas are weathered with various chips and scuff marks.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Realistic style elbow armor.
• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Elbow straps have a raised detail line at the top and bottom of the strap.
• Armor has two parallel dashed detail slots on each outside edge of elbow at the strap connection.
• Elbows are mirror images of each other with a notched area on the outside of the elbow above the detail marks.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white with red details.
• Forearms are mirror images of each other.
• Right forearm has a compad with 8 small buttons,1 large main button, and 1 slightly smaller rectangular button.
• Forearm tops have a flattened triangular area with a ridge that comes to a point at the top of the forearm.
• Right forearm has seven stripes extending straight from the bottom edge of the armor, matching references.
• Left fforearm has seven stripes extending straight from the bottom edge of the armor, matching references.
• Armor is seamless.
• No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.
• Instead of a hard edge, the top of the forearm has a bone ridge.

• Realistic style hand plates.
• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Hand plates have a top curving ridge that come to a point over the index or middle finger just past the main knuckle of the hand.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Black over the wrist gloves made of leather, nylon, or other low pile fabrics.
• Gloves cover any exposed skin.
• Gloves do not show any labels or logos when the armor is worn.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• The upper portion of the chest is painted red, with a white stripe down the middle.
• The red stops at all the return edges.
• Two detail slots are present on the outer corner of the right breast.
• Chest and back armor match together at the sides with no gap.
• A seam line is present.
• Shoulder straps are slotted into the detail ridges of the top connection points.
• Shoulder straps are painted red.
• The red areas are weathered with various chips and scuff marks.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Back armor has a detail plate with 4 recessed circles.
• Circles are painted red.
• Under the circles, there are two recessed stadium shape details on the left and a detailed, recessed rectangular shape on the right.
• Left recesses are painted red.
• Right recess is painted red, leaving the raised trapezoidal details painted white.
• Back and chest armor match together at the sides with no gap.
• A seam line is present.
• Shoulder straps are slotted into the detail ridges of the top connection points.
• Shoulder straps are painted red.
• Red detail section under shoulder strap connection point is painted red.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Eight ¼ inch diameter holes, with four holes inside each indented channel of the abdomen.
• Abdomen armor wraps around the wearer’s body and is sealed at sides or back.
• Abdomen is completely contained under the chest and back armor.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
• Abdomen is seamless at the sides and closed in the back.
• A detail plate covers the seam line and hides all work.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Cod and Posterior armor connect at the hips.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white with red details.
• The indented inverted “U” detail on the front belt boxes are painted red.
• Belt front, between front boxes, has three vertical rectangle indents which are spaced apart by two protruding rectangle areas.
• The rest of the belt is flat surfaced with raised edging on top and bottom that run along the rest of the belt.
• 8 belt boxes are attached to the belt, with four on each side.
• The two largest boxes are in front with an angled top surface that is higher toward the center.
• The smallest boxes are located behind the front boxes, about ⅛ inch apart and have an angled end on top.
• These boxes have a small raised square detail, painted red.
• The medium sized matching boxes, with flat top cover, are about ⅛ inch from the smallest boxes.
• These boxes have a small raised rectangular detail on the bottom, painted red.
• Left rear box is spaced closer to the detonator and has two square buttons in the top left corner, and two dashed indented detail marks on bottom right.
• Top box square detail and buttons are painted red.
• Right rear box is spaced closer to the detonator and has a bar with two small cylinders centered, and two dashed indented detail marks on bottom left.
• Top detail of box and cylinders are painted red.
• A white detonator is centered and attached to the back of belt.
• Detonator tube is about 2 ¼ inch diameter with wider detailed end caps.
• Seven horizontally aligned square buttons are on the left side of the tube, facing backwards.
• Buttons are painted red with heavy scuffing.
• Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

• Strapping goes from under the center of the belt, to the clip, over towards the kama matching references.
• Center clip is painted metallic silver.
• Straps are black webbing.
• Clip is weathered in shades of grey.

• Kama is made from a heavy material like canvas or a tight weave burlap.
• Kama is grey with a red border edge.
• Lower center of Kama has a triangle split.
• Kama aligns with the outer edge of the front belt boxes.
• Kama extends to the just below the knee armor.
• There are two, black straps coming from the Kama that connect to a command buckle centered to the front of the belt. Straps have metal connector clips.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• A 1 inch wide red stripe travels the length of the outside thigh, just forward of center.
• From that vertical line, two 2 inch red stripes, spaced one inch apart, end at the front thigh armor ridge.
• Front of thigh armor has a flat triangular area near the knee.
• From the top of the triangle, a ridge line travels up the front of the thigh to the top edge.
• Rear of the thigh has an indention.
• Armor is seamless.
• No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.
• The outside lower edge of the thigh armor comes to a point.
• The inner lower edge of the thigh armor is rounded.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Knees wrap around the front of the leg.
• A vertical raised section is present in the center of the armor.
• The raised portion is painted red.
• Knees are strapped to the leg via a white strap with a raised center area that wraps around the leg and connects on both sides of the knee.

• Armor is painted gloss or satin white.
• Lower legs are mirror images of each other.
• The front of the armor has a triangular detail at the top of the leg and a hard ridge line down the front of the shin.
• Back of lower leg armor features arched indentation, just under the calf, that follows down to the ankle.
• Bottom of this indentation features a smaller arch detail at the heel.
• Outside of the calf is closed.
• Calf can have an access area on the inside of the leg.
• Calves are seamless and have a trap door access through the indent in the rear of the lower leg.
• The armor is weathered with shades of grey and various chips and scuff marks.

• White, ankle high or tall enough to cover the ankle and eliminate any black undersuit visible at the ankle.
• Boots are lace-less.
• The boots have armor detail to include a natural seam at the toe and a strap that goes over the top of the foot with two protruding disks at each side of the strap.
• Strap and disks are painted red.
• A thin red vertical stripe goes along the heel of the boot.
• There are no markings or labels from the shoe makers.
• Boot soles are flat.
• Boot soles are colored black.
• The armor is weathered with shades of grey.

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

• Realistic Clone Style DC-15S Blaster.
• Blaster may be scratch built out of plastic, wood, metal or cast in resin.
• Blaster has realistic Episode II or Episode III details:
• Wire frame sight.
• Folding stock.
• Twelve radiator fins evenly spaced along the length of barrel.
• Igniter detail knobs.
• Charge magazine clip on right side.
• Total length is approximately 26 inches (66 cm).
• Because of the scale, the Hasbro version is incorrect.

• Realistic Clone Style DC-15A Blaster Rifle.
• Blaster rifle is scratch built out of plastic, wood, metal or cast in resin.
• Blaster has realistic Episode II or Episode III details:
• Flip up sight in down position.
• Ten radiator fins are evenly spaced along the length of the barrel.
• Power setting adjuster detail lever.
• Sniper Scope attached under rifle in storage position.
• Charge magazine clip on left side.
• Igniter detail knobs.
• Total length is approximately 55 inches (139.7 cm).
• Because of the scale, the Hasbro version is not allowed.
