Born on the arid planet of Kubindi, Garindan is a Kubaz species, Imperial informant. He trailed C-3PO and R2-D2 as they met with Luke Skywalker and Ben Kenobi in Mos Eisley and led the Sandtroopers to Docking Bay 94 where Han Solo's Millennium Falcon awaited its getaway.

This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.

This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.


DZ_Garidian_Mask

Mask

  • Made from Leather, leather like material, or latex.
  • The mask extends down the front of the neck meeting the shirt, concealing all visible skin around the face and neck.
  • The snout may be dark brown or grey.
  • The snout has a series 'breather holes' down the front.
  • The snout, has visible cross "Stitching" down sides and around snout where it meets the face.
  • Goggles
  • Dark Grey or black in color.
  • Smooth front plate with protruding lens rings.
  • Lenses are dark enough to hide the wearers eyes.
  • Unmodified safety goggles with visible side vents are not allowed.
  • A round washer-like greeblie is located in the middle of the goggles which stands out from the goggles.

DZ_Garindan_inner_cloak

Inner Cloak

Black in color.

  • It does not gather around the neck, but rather drapes down in front and rear.
  • See Accessories section below for action figure variant.

DZ_Garindan_outer_cloak

Outer Cloak

  • Black in color.
  • Drapes down from a upward peak to at least mid thigh in front.
  • The hood has a small lateral peak just above the goggles (similar to a short baseball cap brim) which raises the hood above and away from the goggles.
  • The hood opening may have a hidden piece of wire / plastic / leather, around the face, to maintain the proper shape.

DZ_Garindan_shirt

Shirt

  • Medium grey shirt with no visible buttons, button holes, decorations, or pockets, with a Mandarin-style collar.
  • Shirt is long enough to be belted over top.
  • Shirt has a center placket.
  • Shirt closes right over left.

    Placket is , 1.25”-1.75” wide


DZ_Garindan_pants

Pants

  • Black flat front suit style pants with no decorations.

DZ_Garindan_gloves

Gloves

  • Black leather, or leather like, gauntlet style gloves.

DZ_Garindan_belt

Belt

  • Black leather, or leather like, belt with a dull silver buckle that is the same width as the belt.
  • See Accessories section below for action figure variant.

    OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    Buckle is Approximately 4 cm wide.


DZ_Garindan_boots

Boots

  • Black boots made of leather or a leather like material.
  • English riding style or jack boots are allowed.
  • Top loops may be present.

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

DZ_Garindan_comlink

Comlink

  • A Stormtrooper style white Comlink.

Action Figure Variant

  • A single wide collar is added to the Inner Cloak.
  • Collar is 4"-6" in width.
  • Imperial style belt buckle with rounded edges is used.
