The Rogue Bandit appears in The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode The Passenger. He was a member of a gang that attacked Din Djarin and he took Grogu hostage. Rogue bandit is the same species as ScrapJaw Motito from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.
This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.
Required Costume Components
The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.
- The fabric is a wool or wool blend herringbone weave in light grey. No seams on shoulders.
- The tunic is a basic square cut with a boatneck style and an opening to halfway down the centre of the front. Covered by a rectangular panel, which is stitched down the right side and half way stitched on the left lower side, with a hidden fastening on the upper left side.
- There is a split on the bottom of each side of the tunic approximately 6 inches (15cm) long.
- The back of the tunic is plain.
- On the sleeves there are 4 stitched bands 1⁄8th of an inch (3mm) wide, 1⁄2 of an inch (5mm) apart around the cuffs.
- Heavily weathered.
Undershirt (only the collar is visible)
- A lightweight orange shirt with a tab style collar with 2 stud fastenings visible on each tip.
- Quilted military style, pant liners with front fly.
- Stitching features a diagonal, criss-cross style pattern.
- Colour is olive brown with side zippers up the full length of the outside leg.
- Heavily weathered, on the lower half.
- Dark brown suede (non-shiny) leather boots with knobby soles.
- No laces.
- Heavily weathered.
- Dark brown leather, with no distinguishing stitching, trims or features, apart from weathering.
- Metal like structured, face mask featuring, solid looking jaw with a criss-cross grill and protruding cylinders for eyes width is 1.4 inches (3.5cm) the length 3 inches (7.5cm) approximately
- Lined inside with black mesh to hide face.
- Painted and weathered to look like solid dirty metal.
- Chin strap required for stability.
- Neck Wrap
- Dark brown suede like fabric, wrapped around the neck and side of the head.
- Worn tucked into the front of the tunic, length of drop at the front approximately 15.7 inches (40cm), once tucked.
- Non-shiny leather or suede garment leather. For comfortable weight distribution no more than 1mm thickness.
- Distinct rectangular panel at the front of the hood coming down to the eye line. With a seam on each side connecting the side panels.
- The top edge at the rear of the hood is raised. (An internal support is required for stability and shape but should not be visible).
- The side panels are narrow and rectangular with the upper edges cut to an approx. 45% angle to achieve the rear peak. There is a visible seam across the top edge of the hood.
- The back of the hood is a narrow rectangular panel with a flared irregular lower edge to allow for the shoulders. The center rear panel is slightly longer than the side panels with irregular flared lower edges.
- The front edges of the hood are folded in by 3⁄8th of an inch (1cm) and attached neatly with no visible stitching.
- All panels are stitched lengthwise almost to the bottom. Length of the hood at the back should sit just above the waistline.
- Wide leather belt with rear fastening studs, featuring two leather military style square leather document carriers with leather cord closures.
- The belt is worn at the hip just below the waistline.
