Darth Malak reigned as a Dark Lord of the Sith during the Jedi Civil War. When the Mandalorians attacked his home world, he escaped the battle and fled. He was trained in the ways of the Force by the Jedi Order before becoming a Sith.

This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

• The head is clean shaven, a high quality bald cap may also be employed.
• The eyebrow area is void of all hair.
• The face is pale skin tone.
• Two arching grey lines wrap around the back of the head and end at the front just above the eyebrows. The two points end with sharp edges on either side and are flat at the base and sides.
• Two smaller lines arch around the back of the neck just above the ears and come to a point around the front of the head. They end just above the eye brows.
• The area around the eyes is black in color.

• Shirt is burgundy and made with a material that conforms to the body and is matte in tone.
• The sleeves are made of thin strips that cover the entire arm. These strips are uneven in design ranging in size from approximately 1/2 inch (1 cm) to 1.5 inch (3.5 cm) large, the sleeves end at the wrist, the sleeves are tight and conforming.
• The strips at the shoulders are wider in size.
• The stomach has tightly compacted lines running horizontal on the entire shirts base. The shirt is tailored to the wearer.
• The center of the shirt has a thick band of trim approximately 2 inches (5 cm) wide with squares running down the entire length of the shirt.

• The chest armor is burgundy and is rigid. The color matches the shirts tone.
• Chest armor is matte or semi-gloss shine.
• The breast area is covered with two intricate designs. The bottom two designs have pointed corners and inlay. There are 8 (eight) total squares on the chest armor.
• The center of the chest armor has an approximately 2 inch (5 cm) band of trim with detailed designs on the inside.

• The neck and face consist of two large separate rigid shapes, they are a dull grey in appearance. The first circular shape wraps around the base of the wearers neck, it closes inconspicuously in the back.
• The front chest area has a detailed center that correlates with the trim on the chest armor and shirt.
• The neck piece is detailed with simple lines around the collar.
• The lower half of the jaw is covered in the same rigid grey armor. The armor wraps around the face and closes inconspicuously. The face plate is smooth and has two bars which end at the corners of the mouth. There is a smooth section in the front of the face plate.
• The back of the collar has tightly compacted leather strips that line the neck. They are made using rubber or leather like material.

• The cape is made from a natural fiber and is matte black, it crosses the chest diagonally from the right shoulder to the left elbow area.
• The cape drops down the left side of the body to within a few inches of the floor.
• The cape should fit across the shoulders and may have some slight bunching on the left shoulder.
• There is no visible clasp, hooks or snaps at the right shoulder connection.

• The skirt is made from the same material as the cape.
• The groin covering is approximately 8 inches (20 cm) wide and ends at the mid calf.
• Two identical coverings sit at the wearers hips and end at the ankles.
• The belt is made of a rigid material and is the same color as the collar.
• The belt has a slight arch and comes to a point at the center.
• There are two squares that sit on both sides of the buckle.
• The rest of the belt is decorated with smaller squares, the shapes are different widths however they are symmetrical on both sides of the belt.
• A smaller belt that is brown in color with simple grey shapes at the innermost portion.
• The center of the buckle has a grey buckle and smaller squares at both sides.

• The pants are made of the same material as the shirt.
• They are burgundy in color.
• Pleats or strips of material cover the entire length of the pants, the strips run horizontally across the pants.
• The strips are approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide.

• The boots are made of leather or leatherlike material.
• Two pieces of rigid armor cover the shoes. The first piece is located at the ankle joint and is gunmetal grey in color.
• The second piece of armor is rectangular shaped with a pointed top and covers the front of the shins.
• The armor on the ankle has pointed edges at the base.

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

• Saber is grey metallic in color.
• Two small red buttons on the mid section.
• Simple lines adorn the saber.
