Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra was a rogue human archaeologist who searched the galaxy for rare artifacts. This variant of the costume appears on comic book covers from Marvel Comic's Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra.
This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.
This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.
Required Costume Components
The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

- Oval shaped.
- The frames of the goggles are a silver and brown
- The goggles should be worn on top of the costumer’s head and above the cap.

- The aviator cap is tan or brown and made from leather or a leather like material.
- The cap fits snug on the costumer’s head.
- A padded, circular shape sits on either side of the head over the ears it is grey and has a small circle outline.
- The chin strap has a buckle on the right hand side of the costumers head.
- The strap should hang no lower than the collar bone.

- Hair is black and shaggy.
- Hair is loose beneath the cap.
- Hair is no longer than the collarbone in the front.
- Hair is shoulder blade length in the back.
- Shaggy unkempt bangs hang from the front of the aviator cap and arch to the right.

- The top of the jacket has a burgundy pattern quilted across the front and back. The design ends at the shoulder blades and is even in the front and the back.
- The jacket has short sleeves that are capped with a single band that is burgundy.
- The bands can either be plain or have a single buckle on each side.
- The grey material is a medium weight fabric that is of a medium grey color.
- There is no fastener on the jacket, and it sits with an opening in the front when worn.

- The shirt is a light to medium weight natural fiber T-shirt.
- The shirt sleeves end at the costumers upper bicep.
- Color can be white or off-white.

- The pants are grey to dark grey and are fitted to the costumer.

- Gloves are black, wrist-length and made from a leather or leather like material.
- Gloves are fingerless and cut off above the finger joint.
- There is a band around the wrist no wider than 3 inches.
- The top side of the gloves have a rectangular red patch.
- Just below the square four smaller squares that sit over the knuckles which are attached to the main red patch.

- The belt is made from brown leather and is 2 inches wide.
- Silver studs are placed every 4 inches down the center of the belt.
- The buckle is arrow pointed and silver.

- The belt is made from plain brown leather and is 2 inches wide.
- A single circular buckle closes the belt in the front.
- Holster is made from the same leather as the belt and has a small button closure.

- The boots are black with low heels of an inch or less.
- No buckles or laces are visible.
- Zippers are permitted on the insides.
- The boots are knee-high in height.

- Tattoos (via sleeve, make-up, or otherwise) mimicking Aphra’s circuitry design in black and is located on the right arm.
- The designs are an assortment of straight lines which end in circles with a dot in the center
- The lines and circles are of equal width and should be no wider than half a centimeter.

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.
