The Imperial Knights were an order of force users. Trained in the ways of the Force they were viewed as Gray by the New Jedi Order, They were the personal guards to the Emperor.

This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

• Armor is made from a rigid plastic, it is red gloss colored and fit to the wearer.
• The breast plate fits around the costumers chest. The top arches in the front center to contour the body.
• A back plate sits flush under the cape.
• The torso armor has approximately five etched lines.
• A third small piece of armor is tucked behind the torso. Three etched lines and a small notch are indented into the armor.
• Below the belt is a groin cover. It is pointed at the bottom and inlaid with two squares and a triangle.
• The shoulders have dual layer armor; overlaying one another. The outermost portion of the armor has piped line detailing. The costumer's right set of armor has a circle detail inlay into the top shoulder.

• Armor is made from a rigid plastic, it is red gloss colored and fit to the wearer.
• The bracers begin at the costumer's wrist and end at the elbow. There is a pointed end at the elbow and two small square hand covers. The hand covers and bracers are etched with simple detailing. The costumer's left arm has a circle with an imperial cog design.
• Two red straps made of the same rigid plastic material can be added to the underside of each gauntlet.

• Tailored leather or leather-like body suit.
• Quilted in lines spaced approximately one inch apart down the arms.
• The legs are quilted in the same fashion as the arms or undecorated.
• The torso has four vertical ribs spaced evenly.
• A open mesh back is acceptable for comfort and heat dispersal.
• The collar is approximately two and a half inches tall and has quilted lines that match the sleeves and legs.
• The tabards are made from a black leather or leather-like material.
• There are eight total tabards: Four in the front and four in the back. The center tabards that are located on the front and back are longer than the side tabards.
• The Vader bodysuit style is an acceptable undersuit for which to attach the tabards to as it matches the quilted arm details.

• The gloves are made from black leather or leather-like material.
• The gloves have no visible adornment.

• The belt is brown and made of three layers of leather/leather-like material.
• The belt front center is adorned with a Imperial issue buckle.
• Female IK costume belt features a point below the buckle.

• Leather or leather-like, dark chocolate brown or black.
• The boots end just below the knee and have a rounded toe.
• Boots have simple straps made of the same material or may be plain, they are free of other ornamentation or design.

• The cape is chocolate brown and made from a mid-weight natural weave material.
• Cape is attached under the back shoulder and back plate. It is wide and billowing.
• The cape ends between the ankles and the floor.

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

• Lightsaber is aluminum with ribbed cut sections.
• There is a large oval cut in the aluminum hilt.
• Black small ribbed sections inlaid inside the oval cutout.
• If a saber is present the clip is attached to the left front hip.
• The blade color is silver.

• The belt bag is small and brown, it is square with a small button on the front.
• The color of the bag matches the belt.
