Born the son of Jedi Knight Kento Marek, Galen was on Kashyyyk when he was discovered by Darth Vader. This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.

This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

SL_starkiller_raxus_hair

Short Hair

  • The hair is dark brown, and is cut very short.

SL_starkiller_raxus_makeup

Special Effects Makeup

  • The eyes are shadowed, and makeup or stage dirt is used to create the effect of mud spatters across the face.
  • A V-shaped smudge or scar is located on the forehead over the left eyebrow.

SL_starkiller_raxus_wound

Wound

  • A wound is visible on the upper right arm, through a hole in the tunic sleeve.

SL_starkiller_raxus_neckwraps

Neck and Shoulder Wraps

  • Thickly padded wraps are worn around the costumer’s lower face, neck, and shoulders.
  • The wraps are made of a heavily weathered tan fabric that is covered with stains and mud spatters.

SL_starkiller_shirt

Tunic

  • The tunic is made of a dark brown material, and fabric with a twill weave pattern such as bull denim is the most accurate.
  • The tunic has a Jedi style V-neck overlap, with the right side tucked under the left.
  • The left side of the tunic is unusually long, with a triangular shaped extension that wraps completely around the torso. This wrap begins at the left shoulder and goes across the front of the torso, under the right arm, and then diagonally across the lower back. The end of the wrap is hidden by the belts, and can be secured on the front left side in any practical way.
  • The tunic fabric is heavily weathered, and is stained to replicate the appearance of dried blood, sweat, and grime.
  • A tear is located on the upper right arm, revealing a wound on the arm.
  • Fabric wraps are tied or discretely sewn around each sleeve. The wraps are made with the same type of fabric as the tunic and pants. These wraps are not unraveling at the edges.
  • A narrow wrap around the upper left arm ties at the back of the arm, and has the ends cut short.
  • A narrow wrap around the upper right arm ties in the front, and has a length of fabric hanging loose from the knot.

SL_starkiller_raxus_backpack

Backpack

  • A metallic gray pack is worn on the back.
  • Dark brown leather straps and side release buckles are used to hold the pack in place.
  • There is a large red screen on the left side, and a smaller red screen at the top of the right side.
  • A row of three dirty gray rocker switches are located below the right screen.
  • Patterns matching the reference images are displayed on the red screens, and the screens are lit with flickering lights from within.

SL_starkiller_raxus_drape

Fabric Drape

  • A long drape made from tan fabric is hung from the back side of the pack.
  • This drape reaches to the knees, and the bottom edge is heavily tattered.
  • The fabric is weathered and stained, especially at the bottom.

SL_starkiller_raxus_armpads

Padded Arm Wraps

  • Thickly padded wraps are worn around the costumer’s forearms, from the elbows to the wrists.
  • The wraps are made of a weathered tan fabric that is covered with stains and mud spatters.
  • The wraps are laced closed in the back with dark brown cord that creates an X pattern down the back of the wraps.
  • The ends of the laces are long and hang down the back of the arms.

SL_starkiller_raxus_armbands

Metallic Arm Bands

  • The arm wrap on the left arm is partially covered by a series of three grooved metallic bands.
  • The top and bottom bands are narrow, while the band in the center is wide.
  • Each band is a weathered silver color with a narrow band of deep red around the center and darker shading in each groove.
  • A single metal clasp is located on the side of each band.

SL_starkiller_raxus_leftglove

Left Glove

  • The palm of the left glove is made of dark brown fabric, while the fingers are made from tan leather.
  • A fabric glove may be worn over a leather glove, or leather fingers may be attached to a fabric glove to achieve this effect.
  • Weathered silver or gray bands circle each finger, each finger is tipped with a metallic cap, and a round, silver greeblie is located on the back of each finger.
  • A metallic silver readout/display board is attached to the back of the left glove. This heavily weathered board includes a red screen which is lit from within. The pattern on the screen matches reference images.

SL_starkiller_raxus_rightglove

Right Glove

  • The palm of the right glove is made of dark brown fabric, while the fingers are made from tan leather.
  • A fabric glove may be worn over a leather glove, or leather fingers may be attached to a fabric glove to achieve this effect.
  • Weathered silver or gray bands circle each finger, each finger is tipped with a metallic cap, and a round, silver greeblie is located on the back of each finger.
  • A metallic silver plate is attached to the back of the right glove. This heavily weathered board includes a pattern of three cylinders that run parallel to the fingers.

SL_starkiller_raxus_belts

Belts

  • Belts: The belts are made of leather that has been stained very dark brown.
  • Belt One is at the top. This belt is approximately 5 cm in width. It has a metallic silver slide clasp on the front left side, and a side-release buckle at the center back. A tail piece of belt leather approximately 7 cm long hangs down from the right side of the buckle.
  • Belt Two is second from the top. This belt is approximately 4 cm in width. It has thin lines etched into the top and bottom edges of the belt. It has a side release buckle on the front right side, with a tail piece hanging from the buckle that is approximately 15 cm long. This tail goes over belt two, and then tucks under the rest of the belts. There is a metallic silver slide clasp on the back left side of belt two, and a tail hangs from this clasp which goes over belt two and then under the rest of the belts. This tail hangs nearly to the back of the knee.
  • Belt Three is third from the top. This belt is approximately 5 cm in width. It has a side release buckle at the center back. A tail hangs from the right side of the buckle and hangs down to mid-thigh. A silver D-ring is riveted to the bottom edge of belt three. Located at the front left side, the D-ring is attached with two dark brown rivets which are visible on the outside of the belt. A metallic silver hook designed for holding lightsabers with d-rings is also riveted on the left side of buckle three.
  • Belt Four is fourth from the top, and is nearly hidden beneath the other belts. This belt is approximately 4 cm in width. The side release buckle is located at the front right hip. No tail pieces hang from this belt.
  • Belt Five is at the bottom. This belt is approximately 4 cm in width. It has a side release buckle located to the right of front center. A tail piece hangs from the right side of the buckle, reaching nearly to the knee. A second side release buckle is located on the back right side. This buckle has a shorter tail piece hanging on the left side which is approximately 9 cm long. A thin strap of leather is used to attach a silver d-ring to the top left side of the belt.
  • A larger belt is worn draped on a diagonal line over the other belts. This belt is approximately 6-7 cm in width. Lines are etched onto the top and bottom edges of the belt leather. A large silver slide clasp is located at the front left which has holes or rivets located at the top and bottom edges. Shadows on the belt suggest that the slide clasp is attached only to the right side of the belt, hiding the cut edge of the leather, and then the left end of the belt goes underneath it. The left side can then be attached with snaps that are disguised by the slide clasp. A matching slide clasp is located at the center back of the belt. Four large swivel clips are located on the back of the belt, with two on each side of the slide clasp. These clips are riveted or glued to the belt.

SL_starkiller_pants

Pants

  • The pants are made with the same dark brown fabric as the tunic.
  • The pants are slightly baggy, and they tuck into the boots.
  • The fabric is heavily weathered and mud spattered, and has a damaged area running across the outer right thigh.

SL_starkiller_raxus_loincloth

Loincloth

  • The fabric used for the loin cloth is a dark tan which is much lighter than the tunic and pants, but darker than the padded arm and leg wraps.
  • The loin cloth reaches to just above the knees in the front.
  • The fabric is heavily tattered and stained, especially at the bottom edges.

SL_starkiller_raxus_legwraps

Padded Leg Wraps

  • Thickly padded wraps are worn around the costumer’s lower legs, from the knees to the feet.
  • The wraps are made of a weathered tan fabric that is covered with stains and mud spatters.
  • The wraps are laced closed in the back with dark brown cord that creates an X pattern down the back of the wraps.
  • Additional lengths of cord are wrapped around the leg wraps, creating a larger X pattern down the lower legs. These cords are tied together just below the knees in the front, and the loose ends hang down over the legs.

SL_starkiller_raxus_bootwraps

Boot Wraps

  • The foot area of the boots is covered with heavily stained brown fabric wraps.

SL_starkiller_boots

Boots

  • The heavily weathered boots are dark brown with low heels.
  • No buckles or laces are visible.
