Nute Gunray is a Neimoidian who participated in the occupation of Naboo with the Federation Army to settle a trade dispute that began in the Galactic Senate. With the help of Darth Sidious, Gunray invaded the planet to end the trade dispute and secured all facilities in the capital of Theed.
This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.
This is a visual guide used for 501st costume approval, not a how-to for construction. Construction details are found at the costume's Detachment website. Measurements provided here are are generalized, and not criteria for approval. All 501st costumes are proportionate to the wearer in terms of size, fit, and scale. During evaluation, both text and images (CRL and Reference) must be considered. When in doubt about a feature of a submitted costume, GMLs should post questions in the Legion forum's DL/GML peer review section.
Required Costume Components
The following costume components are present and appear as described below. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met. This Detachment defines additional, optional costuming details listed in blue and red. Please visit the Detachment website for more details on these options.

- Head is made from a high quality latex or silicone product.
- Skintone is green.
- No nose is present.
- The eyes are green and red, and feature horizontal, irregular pupils.
- The orbital structure around the eyes is prominent.

- A textured dark grey viceroy hat is worn.
- This hat is made of a stiff material, and has a trim around all visible edges.
- This trim is the same colour as the outer robe.
- The hat features three points at the front, extending vertically up. The middle point is higher than the two either side.
- The hat has two long side panels, that extend down either side of the costumers face.
- These side panels extend to the base of the Torque.
- Two decorative silver clips are worn at the peak of the side panels.
- The hat has a small ducktail cover at the back of the costumers head.

- The hands are made from a high quality latex or silicone product.
- There are five (5) fingers on each hand.
- The hands are the same green color as the mask.

- Burgandy in colour, the outer-robe is made of textured material.
- If lined, the outer robe is lined with the same style of material.
- The robe falls from the shoulders to the hem which rests on the floor.
- The sleeves have a split that starts at the elbow of the costumer.
- The bottom of the sleeve extends to the ground, in a long point.
- The sleeves should have appropriate drape when the costumer has their arms down by their sides.
- The under tunic sleeves must be visible.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Burgandy in colour, the outer robe is made of a diamond plate fabric.

- A mid-layer tunic is worn over the top of the inner robe.
- The mid tunic is mustard yellow in colour and made of a ribbed, lightweight linen fabric.
- The mid tunic is long sleeved.
- The mid tunic reaches to the middle of the costumers shin in length.

- The inner robe is of a lightweight fabric.
- The inner robe features horizontal stripes that are burgundy and dark burgundy or dark yellow in color.
- The inner robe reaches the floor in length.
- Note: The inner robe can be simplified to a skirt layer, as only the bottom of the robe can be seen.

- The chest tabard is worn over the top of the mid-tunic.
- The chest tabard is made of a rough woven fabric and is dark burgundy in colour.
- The chest tabard has a high collar, that is loose around the costumers neck.
- This collar should cover the neck of the mask.
- The tabard is cut wide over the costumers chest, and narrows from the hips down, until it tapers to two (2) points.
- The tabard ends above the mid tunic.

- A weathered silver torque is worn over the top of the chest tabard.
- The torque features parallel ridges and a raised edge.
- The torque fastening can not be seen.

- Plain black boots are worn.
Optional Accessories
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

- A soft or hard back plate can be work to round out the back of the costumer.
- If worn, it must be underneath all costume parts, and not visible.
- May double as a hydration pack to aid in the comfort of the costumer.
